OVER the past few months staff from The Rakem Group have come #togetherforburyhospice.

We were invited by our local hospice along with 20 local businesses to participate in their Corporate Challenge.

In June each business was given £50, kindly sponsored by our sister company Maker Industrial, The Mill Gate Shopping Centre and Majestic Publications.

All companies have until the end of October to turn the £50 into as much money as possible and we are competing against companies such Crown Oil, RBS Bury, The Bolholt Country Park Hotel and PMM Accountants.

What have we done so far?

We are proud to say, that by holding various events including a Bake Off style cake sale, an internal raffle, a charity football match and our Ladies’ Lunch, we are currently at the top of the leader board, with over £7,000 raised so far!

Don’t believe us?  Take a look http://www.buryhospice.org.uk/corporate-challenge-leaderboard/

The Rakem Group staff and colleagues took part in various events across Bury; Ste Headley and Scott Heyes-Fawcett got physical at the Gauntlet Games at Heaton Park on 16th September and Mark Rhodes ran his first 10K after an operation on his foot, finishing in under 60 minutes!

Thank You

We want to thank everyone for their support, including our very kind staff members’ families who have helped out and joined in.

On Sunday 17th September, Jake and Phil (Amanda Clowes’ son and husband) ran the Bury 10k to raise funds on behalf of Rakem.

Phil has only recently recovered from cancer himself, and after being unable to exercise for over a year decided to get back into it with a 10K run…which is just amazing!

Our Corporate Challenge charity golf day at Breightmet Golf Club was held on Friday 29th September and was a great success.

Fourteen teams took part in the Texas Scramble…the golfers had a great game and fortunately the rain held off.

After the course was complete there was a dinner where the prizes, (provided by our sister company Cemkem), were handed out to the winners. Well done and a huge thanks to all those who took part!

On Sunday October 1st our colleague Caitlin braved the weather and an early start and set up at the Bolholt Car Boot sale.

Caitlin sold items from furniture to clothes, perfume, ornaments, homemade cupcakes and lots more, with all proceeds going to the hospice fund.  She is going to be doing another car boot sale in Ramsbottom, so watch this space for news and details so you can grab your bargains!

What’s next?

Fancy joining us for our Grand Finale, Black Tie Gala ball at the Village Hotel Bury?

At 7pm on Friday October 20th we will be celebrating the end of our Corporate Challenge in style.

There will be a luxury tombola and an auction with amazing experiences and trips to win, with the auction also going to be online if you’re unable to attend on the night.

We still have a few tables left and would love to celebrate with you, so if you would like to join us get in touch via kieran@rakem.co.uk.

We have thoroughly enjoyed raising money with the various events we have held and we hope that you have enjoyed our journey with us so far.

Finally we would like to say a huge thank you again to everyone involved, both as part of the Rakem team and those who have helped with donations and raffle prizes.
